I am guessing I will have to do something through my service provider to get my phone to work while I'm in Dangriga. I am also guess that I can just use my regular charging cord for charging? Any suggestions?

Foreign phone plans vary by provider - call and ask. Plugins are basically the same but if you have appliances that have 3 prongs, consider taking a cheap cheater adapter in case the wall outlets just have 2 slots.

A lot depends on the type of phone you have. If you have an unlocked GSM phone, you can simply buy a SIM card from Belize Telemedia Ltd., replace your current SIM with it, and buy time on their network. CDMA phones for Smart! (the other big telco in Belize) are a little more complicated and need to be unlocked and switched by a technician. It's probably best in that case to buy an inexpensive phone in the states dedicated for use in Belize. It's also probably best to get the unlocking and switching done in Belize. The techs there have all the information they need on hand. For long distance calling (like back home), I'd look into a paid Skype account. If they have a local access number in Belize, it would be WAY cheaper than any US carrier's international plan. Have a grand adventure!
