Spent more than a month each in Mexico DF and Costa Rica. Considering BeIize next. Can someone teII me about the Retirement visa requirements as far as how big of a pension is required? I had been counting on Panama, but when Social Security got its COIA raise it was 2% which brought me to $999 and for Panama $1000 is required. SO teII me about Belize please.

If you are only talking of short term to check things out, you can simply come in as a tourist, on the 30 day visa stamped on entry. if you stay over 30 days you go to your Nearest immigration office and renew for the next 30 days, at a cost of $50 bze. You can continue doing that every 30 days but after the 6th month the cost goes to $100bze.

I'd forget about the Qualified Retirement Program (QRP) unless you have a lot of things you want to import.

I'd suggest coming in on a 30-day tourist stamp as mentioned above, and continuing that for 12 months. No minimum income requirement for this option.

After 12 months, you can apply for permanent residence.
