hey, i am going to be in the red bank area next week and wanted to see if the macaws were around, i'll be traveling in my pick up. does anyone have a contact number for someone in the town who would have info on guides, entry, if the macaws have been seen in the area lately? also is it necessary to have a guide or can you just follow a trail out yourself? thanks.

I saw several Macaws there a few days ago.
When you arrive in the Red Bank village, ask around for Mr. Geronimo Sho. He can arrange a guide for you. I strongly advise you to hire a guide as it is very rude to trample over village lands without giving something. (expect to pay something around BZ$75.00)

You can now enjoy this amazing sight of wild scarlet macaws in red bank with your private local guide Raul. He is an independent licenced guide that knows exactly where to find these elusive birds. He is very knowledgeable about the birds, culture, and Belize as a whole. He is licenced to guide through the red bank area and Belize. We had an amazing trip with him. We can not thank him enough for this memorable experience of the macaws in flight and perched at a very close range. We also did maya ruins, spice farm, chocolate farm, jaguar preserve and a maya cultural experience. We will look for Raul the next time we are in Belize for more of his adventures. Excellent guide, highly recommended. Red Bank is home to toucan, hawks, warblers, mot mot, fly catchers and many other colorful birds. Contact Raul at or 6518225.
