Original owner subdivided six acres out of 30 and paid the man. We paid to have the 6 divided in to. After filling paperwork found that the original subdivision was never completed. So we had to start all over, before we could do ours. The original owner was livid, but paid to have it redone. He hired a lawyer in Belmopan, Dujon and Dujon, to straighten it all out. Use a lawyer and get it checked before you do anything else first!!! Just my opinion after getting burned and wasting lots of time.

Was the original owner an expat or Belizean? How long did the process take?

Original owner was an expat but lived here for 15 years. He asked us to use Sanchez at first cause he was so happy with his work the first time!! That and he is the only surveyor living here in Toledo at the time. The whole process ended up taking almost a year and a half to complete. But once the lawyer entered the scene, was done in 3 months.

They can still do a full topo even in heavily wooded land. The boundaries are normally marked by chopping a line, but the topo didn't require any chopping at all. Plus they actually mapped the major trees.
DGPS doesn't work too well under the canopy, so it was a theodolite and tape measure for a lot of it.

I was finally able to get through to Tony & Derek Graham telephone number. Thanks Jerry. A very nice lady answered and said Derek would be in later in the evening. Tony passed away from what I understood but Derek continues to do surveying work. I'll be checking about doing survey on 66 acres on Macal River next to Duplooys. I was impressed at how reasonable the rates were for survey they did for Jerry (Rigrat) on 55 acres a few years ago.

Had a very good conversation with Derek Graham this evening. I was impressed. He's now preparing a quote for me.

Derek Graham will be doing our survey. US$2,000 for survey of 66 acres on Macal. Our family is really looking forward to meeting and working with Derek.

Different pricing for different type of work. A local guy here, for example, would bury a fence post every 4 feet around the perimeter of 66 acres, including hardwood bushstick, for that price.
