Not recent but wasn't Mosquito Coast with Harrison Ford filmed in Cayo? And didn't he go crazy at the end of the movie?

Ok, Whats your point about "going crazy"? Do you know for sure if filmed there, if so, I will rent it, would be neat to match a map with any panoramic scenes but highly unlikely.

Ahhhh. Movies and TV. Well there was "Dogs of War" (1981) with Chris Walken & Tom Berenger, and featuring Belize City doing a passable impression as an African city in conflict. Then, as Greg said, there was "Mosquito Coast" (1986) with Harrison Ford trying to get away from it all. "Heart of Darkness", a forgettable made-for TV version of Joseph Conrad's story that stared John Malkovich. "After the Storm", based on the Hemmingway short story, was filmed in San Pedro, Placenta and Belize City in 2000. I think that was the last Hollywood film shot in Belize, but of course there was "Temptation Island", shot in 2000 on Ambergris Caye. Hurricane Keith caused the production crew a fright, but no one was hurt. However, Temptation Island II will be filmed in Honduras. Want a list of documentaries?

Rick, Interesting story. I've heard similar stories from some resorts and even a car rental agency in Belize about the same behavior from publishers of Travel Guides. If the car or room is not free, no publicity or even worse, a bad report.

Greg, I found a post from 3-11-2 "Movie shoot in Belize" with Bratt,Assante and Pastore. the movie was called "After the Storm". seems the most interesting wait for the production to begin was if Bratts' girlfriend was going to show up, that was Julia Roberts! don't know how it turned out, but will check the video store out along with a few others.

Part of a Mexican movie was filmed in Corozal Town in the 70's. Much of it was filmed on our property long before the Corozal Bay Inn ever existed and our property and neighbourhood was still part jungle. The star of the movie was Mexican wrestling legend and movie star Blue Demon. http://www.santoandfriends.com/BlueDemonPage.htm He wore a blue mask at all times. They filmed a party scene with a local band next to the beach and some scenes running and fighting in the bush. I was an extra in the film as a kid hanging around the party and got to hang around with the Blue Demon off camera. I was the envy of every kid in my school. Quite a few of the local teenagers were also in the film dancing at the party. I was told by Blue Demon that another part of the movie was filmed in the Cayo area. Heard later also that a guy from Cayo went along with the movie crew to Mexico and became a Mexican movie star. I think the movie was El Hijo del Alma Grande, but have never seen it.

Check out the Travel Channel presentations and other magazine site archives. Belize is getting more and more attention all the time. Good and bad, I suppose, but most recently was a program on the Travel Channel showing Francis Coppola's 2 resorts in Belize.

Yup, that is definately the film. Seems like Corozal is not on the list of locations but they did film here. The cast & crew stayed at the old Capri Hotel of which my dad was part owner. I am going to see if I can rent the movie in Chetumal. I wonder if this is the first movie ever filmed in Belize?

I came across this thread and thought you may be able to help me.
I am a making a wildlife film in Belize this year to be presented by David Attenborough. I am on the hunt for a 'fixer' who can help me find some locations and also advise me about the local fauna and flora ( particularly three toed sloths and Boa's ) If you can help I woudl be really grateful.
Kind regards
