We are thinking of vacationing in Belize in Jan or Feb. Are there any clothing optional beaches, resorts, etc.? Thank you.

in some respects i do not agree. You can always see children swimming without clothing. In european beaches they all mix ,naked kids, topless wife, and bikini shorts husband, right along with naked and fully clothed.I believe tho lea is correct for you not to seek out naked places because you might attact trouble. Many would not have the problem ,they would get the wrong idea.

Of course, the beaches in Belize are a long way from Europe...so different standards apply. smile

And lea is absolutely right about the modesty of Belizians - despite the heat and humidity, the only scantily-clad people we saw were tourists.

public nudity is not acceptable in Belize and only insensitive tourists have occasionally practiced it.

Creole Tango is correct most Belizeans are very modest and most women here don't want to see other women tourist or other wise baring there breasts, is it really necessary anyway?
But I did ask the Sargeant here on Caye Caulker and this is what he informed me.
It is legal for a woman to go topless it is not considered lewd, It is illegal for a man to go bottomless, but they can wear thongs.

However, in my opinion, which doesn't mean much, it is still inconsiderate to flaunt the breastages unless you are feeding a child.

Playa del Carmen has lots of topless European women. I have heard of a island resort in Belize that is clothing optional. I do not not know where it is. You would have to ask the local fishermen who are said to sail by for a peek now and then. A nudist resort. Now that might be a money maker in Belize. I am sure if you rent all of Cayo Espanto they would let you and your group run around in the buff.

turning belize into jamaica is exactly what the PUP warned against in the early 80s. a large segment of the belizean population is opposed to this sort of wholesale "touristing" of the country.
it seems a shame that we all are not.

changing belize into disneyland or whatever you want it to be seems ironic.
